Window Dressing: Blinds or Curtains?

What type of window dressing would your prefer  for your home? The truth is both blinds and curtains are suitable for all homes.

However, if you are looking for something more attractive with modern outlook, my suggestions for you is window blind. They come in various types and styles, horizontal and vertical, blinds also come in different materials and texture, you have the fabric types, wooden, plastic and aluminium. Available in any major market close to you.

They are durable, easy to maintain, although keeping your blinds clean can be a little time consuming compared to curtains, as they tend to get dusty easily, especially the wooden types, when your blind is dirty, the whole appearance changes. But as soon as you are done cleaning, they are as good as new.

Curtains on the other hand are not bad, they have their specific advantages over blinds. They are cost effective in case you are looking for window dressing on a budget, easier to install compared to blinds.

Choosing Curtains over blind, you have wider varieties to pick from, they are available in divers colour combinations, both plain colors and patterned. You can mix both if you desire. Curtains are easier to maintain, consumes lesser time in cleaning (depending on how exposed your apartment is to dust).

Another advantage blinds has over curtain is, they are never old, every time you change your home outlook, your blind stays, except you are making a switch from blind to curtain.  Blind colours are specially made to be suitable for all colour blend as they don't come in print patterns. Curtains on the other hand needs to be changed every time you want to give your home a new appearance.

The choice of where to put up a blind or curtain varies from room to room depending on your choice. In functionality, blinds are more suitable for bedrooms, as they give you control over daylight streaming in. Blind are better used in places like kitchen for easy ventilation. Both options are suitable for your living room.
