Rented apartments don't come so big these days. I was privileged to visit a friend weeks ago, she just got married with lots of stuffs to put together in her new home, but the rooms were so small it can barely hold everything and she was getting overwhelmed. We had fun making her home more accommodating.
Small apartments can feel bigger than it actually is, you just have to know how to manage your space, and to manage, i mean storing your stuffs. Optimizing your space to the best is what you need to be happy in your home. A house with luggage and items all over the place harbors more rodents. Below are some useful tips to keep your small apartment as spacious as possible.
1. Choose your furniture right.
From the size of your bed, the table, your entertainment stand and wardrobe, keep it small, make use of your wall, you can hang your TV unit to the wall, go for a wall shelves for your entertainment unit in place of tables or a stand. Center tables are cute, but when when managing your space, go for side tables. This will give you more additional space you require..
2. Make use of drawers
This is a very effective one, you can have as many as you want attached to your bed, kitchen cabinets and toilets. Store all your kitchen utensils such as cooking pots, food storage containers, buckets etc neatly in your drawers.
Go for wall shelves with doors, this make the room look clean and classy. Don't clutter your bedroom with traveling bags and laundry baskets (dirty clothes bag).
3. Wall hooks and Hangers
This is also an effective one, make use of your wall space, hang in your towels in the bathroom, bathing sponge and shower caps.
in your kitchen, keep your counter tops free, hang your cooking spoons and frying pans, oven-mitt and napkins.
4. Use your cupboard/wardrobe tops
Another way to make your apartment bigger is by making use of your wardrobe tops, this gets rid of extra luggage on the floor, boxes and books, making room for more space in your bedroom.
Having few of your old collection is nice, but when they occupy too much space, they are better gotten rid of. the piece of broken mirror, shoes you no longer wear, that old couch in the hallway, your old photo frame that are so old they cant be hung on the wall, instead of keeping them at the corner of your bedroom or making a space for them in your little store, Get rid of them!
Do your laundry every week or every other day if you have kids, wash and replace your dishes after every meal. Use fewer, larger pieces of home accessories to reduce visual clutter.
